EV Real-World Range Calculator

Estimate your real-world EV range based on temperature, speed, driving style and load.

How the range estimate works

Range = usable energy ÷ energy use. The calculator starts with your car’s rated energy use and applies factors for temperature, speed, driving style and load. Cold weather raises consumption (heating, battery chemistry, denser air), and so does highway speed because drag rises with the square of speed.

These multipliers are typical averages, not exact figures for your car. Treat the result as a planning estimate, and leave a safety margin on long trips.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my EV range lower in winter?
Cold cells deliver less energy, cabin heating draws power and denser air increases drag. A 20–30% loss near freezing is common.
How does speed affect range?
Aerodynamic drag grows rapidly with speed, so motorway driving at 120 km/h can use about 40% more energy than mixed driving.
