What is total cost of ownership?
TCO adds every cost of keeping a car for a set period: depreciation (what you lose when you sell), energy, insurance, servicing, taxes and any finance interest. It is a far better way to compare two cars than the sticker price alone.
Depreciation is usually the largest line. Check recent used-car listings for the model you are considering to pick a realistic resale percentage.
